Upper Elementary student working “8-bit” art.
The Upper Elementary teacher is Mrs. Cheryl Morgan and her assistant is Ms. Eileen Cabrera. Students in this class enjoy Greek and Roman mythology, reading, writing, science, math, physical education, art, music, and computers. In addition, they visit Losner Park on a regular basis. Meet our magnificent Upper Elementary teachers!
Mrs. Cheryl Koenig Morgan has taught in Montessori schools for 20 years. She has lived in Homestead for 30 years and has been married for 29 years to Ben Morgan, a retired ranger from National Park Service who spent most of his career at Everglades National Park. In fact, the Morgan family lived in the park for 18 years. Their two children—Anne-Marie, a graduate of Lake Erie College in Ohio, and Carrel, a student at Florida International University—both attended Montessori schools through sixth grade. When she isn’t in the classroom, she enjoys scrapbooking and gardening with native plants. She is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami where she served as secretary of the Board of Trustees, youth advisor, and Sunday School teacher. She currently runs the Hospitality Committee. Mrs. Morgan has an AA in social science from Laney College, Oakland, CA; a BA in mass communications from California State University at Hayward; and a Masters degree in Montessori Education from Barry University. She is certified through American Montessori Society and has served as an evaluator for the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF). You may contact Mrs. Morgan a firstname.lastname@example.org.
